Mini No. 6

This is the last mini that I pledged to complete before the end of March. It is a bad ass Reaper mini. She is a super cool Hellknight and as soon as I bought her I was hype to paint her. Also, since she is almost all armour she was pretty easy. The most complex part was figuring out how to achieve the almost black metallic armour. Since she is soooo bad ass I wanted her to be super dark so I primed black.

To get this almost black metallic colour I mixed together vallejos metallic medium with abaddon black from Citadel. Pretty much a one to one mix. I added dark purple to the fabric and staff and leadbelcher to the spearhead, glaive and horns of the helmet. I love how the red of the sword sheath works with the purple.

Finally I added a liberal black wash to almost everywhere. A sepia wash to the face and banners. I did a dry brush using straight leadbelcher on the armour and then also used a brighter silver on the even more highlighted areas. Lastly, I tried my hand at doing some red detail on the banners just to give them a little more interest. the basing I tried to use the crackle paint from Citadel, but it really didn’t really turn out as well as I had hoped.

I added a tattoo over her eye, varnished her armour in satin, the blades with gloss and the fabric with matte.
