Ezren Iconic Male Human Wizard ( Reaper 60002)

Mini No. 11

I fell in love with this mini as soon as I saw it. I knew 100% how I wanted to paint it as soon as I saw it. I love the character and movement the mini has and the detail without it being cluttered. I primed this mini in white, the plan was to make him a fire wizard, and I wanted to make it POP.

As usual I started with blocking in the colours, he started looking a little like Charmander haha. But the colours looked really great and I had heaps of fun painting him. I started with yellow at the centre, then orange and red on the sleeves.

I have a yellow wash on the yellow, agrax earthshade on the orange and carribou red on the red. I think investing in more washes was a really good idea. I had issues with using washes that were too dark in the past and they made minis look “dirty” or “muddy”. These washes were much more clean.

The details on his belt are mainly brown with some gold accents, the main wash used was nuln oil and sepia. I made his hair gray. Its the colour I imagined him having right from the start. I really think that it adds to the character of the mini.

For the base I painted it brown, but his boots were also brown so that was clearly a mistake. I also ended up covering the whole thing in grass and flower flocking.
