Mini No 22
When I saw this mini for the first time, on the shelf at Card Kingdom, I immediately knew that I wanted to paint it and what I wanted to do with it.
Its a big chunky one and is quite heavy. I love how it feels. So my plan with this cultist guy was to go with very deep, luxurious colours and the colour palette I based it on was a peacock feather.

So I began with washing the mini with a toothbrush and some soap, after he dried I glued him together and primed him black. I always find that a black prime can give deeper shadows and colours.

Next it was time to add colour. YAY!! I blocked in the colours first this time. This was mainly to check if they would all work together. The blue was too bright for what I was looking for so I did end up changing it to a much deeper colour. But other than that I do like how all the other colours sat together.
A quick wash and slight highlight on the blue pulled it all together.

The same process was applied to the green parts of his outfit and the purple robes. I think the gold looks super great with the rest and I am excited to see this one all finished up! It took a little experimenting with the sleeves, because I hadn’t planned on what colour to use there. At first I thought teal, then a bright green, but eventually I settled on red. It just went the best with all the other colours I had already used.
And now the fun part!! I added the gold to the mask with a brown wash to age it a little and some light highlighting. I also added some red gems to the gold decoration on the front of his garment.

Finally I added some flocking he is complete!
