Mini No 23

I purchased this box on a whim because I loved the minis and was inspired to go with an Alice in Wonderland theme. My plan for Molly was to actually swap her out for another mini called Seamus from another box. So I had the freedom to paint her however I wanted, but vaguely she is the mad hatter, I just need to find some hats for her still.

I primed her white because I knew her main colour was going to be yellow, and the yellow I have is incredibly thin and doesn’t go at all well over darker colours.

I really love this colour actually. I gave it a few coats of this wonderful bright yellow and then washed it with Citadels Casandora Yellow which came out very nice and natural. I then dry brushed her with a much lighter shade of yellow to make the folds pop and hey presto, the dress was done in no time. I also quickly did her skin colours which were super easy. Shading was Agrax Earthshade instead of Sepia to make her look less alive and a little darker.

I painted her shoes brown, added the flames to her hand (for the spell she is casting). I went with black hair because I really like how it stood out on the box for the mini. I kept the dress simple with white trim, the mini is so nice I didn’t want to distract from it.

For the base I for these really cool green stuff rolling pins from GreenStuffWorld. This is the cobblestone one and I think it worked out really great. I cut the green stuff to fit in the base, glued it down and added some sand to make it look more gritty.

In the end I painted it black and gray, added a heavy agrax earthshade wash and dry brushed it back with a brighter colour. After mounting the mini I added some tufts of grass here and there to make it look like weeds were growing in the cracks.
