Alright, almost at the finish of the base game. Today we are working on the Polania Republic faction. Their colour is white which has always been an issue for me because it is super hard to paint. The fig is awesome though as it is a bad ass lady with a bear.

As expected I primed the figures white, and then did a not so liberal was of nuln oil. After some tests it proved the best and quickest option, mainly because I could dry brush back a lot of the white gradually and in layers and as a bonus, due to this, it would have a gritty oiled up look.

The above is what it looks like with the white added back in and with the silver added to the metal. At first I was unsure of this colour palette but as usual the basing really brought it together.

I actually ended up adding tea for the base!! I went into the pantry and opened up all the different teas that I had and this one looked just like a bunch of bark and woodchips! PERFECT!

In the end I actually think they look like Star Wars AT-STs 🙂 Of course I added the battle damage as before!

Finally to the bear. I tried something different with priming. Zenithal priming is where you prime the figure black, then from an angle from the top prime some in gray and then directly from the top spay some white. This should give you a solid idea as how to shade the figure when you paint. Unfortuantely this doesn’t work super well when priming with spray cans.

I added white details to the bears pouches and such to keep the figure as white as possible. As you can see though the same issues with the bad sculpt came up here. I wish there was more detail here to work with, especially in her face.

Despite having to paint a whole bunch of white I really enjoyed working on this faction.
